Navistar International is set to
deploy Cummins 15-litre engines in its own trucks and Cummins Emissions Solutions'
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) based aftertreatment system combined
with the company's own in-cylinder MaxxForce engines to
create ICT+.
The two companies have entered a non-binding Memorandum of
Understanding and Navistar expects that by combining the two
systems, it will be able to meet 2010 US EPA emissions regulations
and position the company to meet greenhouse gases (GHG) rules in
advance of 2014 and 2017 requirements.
Navistar plans to offer Cummins ISX15 engines as part of its
North American on-highway truck line-up beginning January 2013 and
to begin the introduction of ICT+ in its MaxxForce 13-liter in
early 2013.
Navistar also provided an outlook on the third quarter of 2012
and withdrew its full-year 2012 guidance based on its transition to
ICT+. The company's overall market share for the fiscal third
quarter 2012 is seen to remain flat at 17-18% for Class 8 and
35-36% for Class 6-7 trucks and at 48-49% for school
buses.
